Present coronavirus which is also known as COVID-19, is a new variety of virus that baffling even to the experts all over the world. As such, coronavirus was known to scientists earlier too, but the present virus is a novel one, which was never seen before.

This virus initially started from China in a city called Wuhan. Many people in Wuhan shopped from the wholesale seafood market, which also sold freshly slaughtered animals.

Scientists and medical researchers are trying to find the original source of this virus. Though nothing can be said with conviction however following are few sources of this virus that is suspected.

Since people need to wear masks to protect from this virus, the demand for large quantity protective masks has tremendously increased. In the USA, there is a large number of cases of COVID-19.

Did it come from pangolins?

As per the media reports coming from China, various researchers have tried to identify the source of this virus as it originally started from that country.

Researchers in China have analyzed more than 1000 metagenome samples, which were taken from various wild animals and they are suspecting that pangolins, which is some kind of anteater must be the intermediate source of this virus.

Another scientist from China claims that perhaps it originated from bats but they usually hibernate during winter season, hence the possibility of bats is quite unlikely, as the pandemic started in November in China.

However, none of these research reports done by Chinese scientists have ever been published and hence it is very difficult to rely simply based on the press release made by the Chinese media.

Theory about bats was also found from other sources

Another study published in January showed very strong evidence that perhaps bats are original source of this infection.

However, the study says that most probably bat is original source of this virus, but it has been passed to humans through some other animal. Quite possibly, it was snakes through which, it has entered into humans.

Therefore, scientists are considering that bat could be the original source of this virus, but it has gone into seafood in the market of Wuhan, which has finally passed on the virus to humans.

Another study conducted during 2017, where virologists found few populations among the horseshoe bats transmitted virus strains, which is known as SARS that infected humans in the year 2002.

Few other sources of trusted research which was published, where it was claimed that many sources of emerging infectious diseases could come from many African bats, which are also considered as reservoirs of few incredibly dangerous virus known as Ebola virus.

As the species jump, a virus also jumps from one kind of species to another, while that species may not initially have well-developed immunity against the virus.

Therefore, many experts claim that with time, our ability of fighting new virus will increase and COVID-19 too will die out naturally with passage of time.
